Harborne Cricket Club has a thriving youth section and we provide a comprehensive programme of cricket coaching and matches for our youth members. Cricket is an ever growing sport, a wonderful team game, and not to mention the social interaction that the children experience in a club environment with their peers.
Girls and boys from ages 6 years through to 17 are welcome to our coaching sessions, held at the club from April on Tuesday evenings (aimed at those new to cricket), and squad sessions held on Friday evenings (for the more experienced cricketer). All sessions run from 6.30pm to 8pm.
Due to popular demand, we also run winter coaching sessions from October until March which have proved their worth in the development of the players.
Youth cricketers are encouraged to work towards joining our team squad sessions, which form part of Friday training sessions.
All our sessions are managed and run by our team of ECB qualified coaches.
We enter the youth competitions run by the Warwickshire Cricket Board in the following age groups:
Under 9
Under 10
Under 11 (two teams)
Under 12
Under 13
Under 14
Under 15
Under 17
as well as providing interclub games.
We have links with Warwickshire Cricket Board and many children within our youth section have been successfully nominated and are now taking part in the district and county programmes with a view to representing Warwickshire at various age groups.
Our main aim is to ensure that cricket is fun and rewarding and each child is encouraged to develop their skills at their own pace.
Forthcoming dates for your diary:
Youth registration evening Tuesday 20th April 2010
Festival Cricket Week Summer holidays (dates to be announced)
Harborne CC are very proud of its youth section and are always looking to improve and expand to give more children opportunities to learn and develop their skills through training and matchplay. Come and be a part of it!
