David Law

Lawman
Profile
First came into contact with Harborne as a 15 year old Old Tauntonian off spiner much enjoyed by touring batsmen (especially Simon Clements). Made club debut in the same match as Gunners in 1989 at Knowle & Dorridge - our careers and waistlines have blossomed in parallel ever since.
Second team captain from 1994 to 1996, inheriting a winning side and winning bugger all. Claims with absolutely no justification to have laid the foundations for the gloriously successful Gunthorpe era - the current 2nd team is widely recognised as being a tribute to the visionary youth policy pursued in the mid nineties. Resigned in a huff after being abused for dropping a Villa fan who prefered to spend half his Saturdays at the Holt End rather than the Pavillion End (although being a Villa fan should have been a good enough reason to be dropped in its own right) and promptly pissed off to Marlow for one and a half seasons. Renowned specialist fielding skills brought instant recognition from Marlow's 1st XI selection panel, before modest runscoring abilities secured a deserved slot in the 2nd XI's lower middle order.
Returned to Harborne older, wiser, slower and fatter in 1999 and promptly got roped in to replace celebrated old, wise, slow and fat man Motters as tour organiser. Celebrated 10th season at the club in 2000 by scoring enough runs in the 2nd XI to earn the much sought after Number 9 berth in the 1st XI.

What's your favourite Pete Stevens quote or favourite Colonel cricketing memory?
No comment, partly because I've never heard Pete Stevens say anything in a language I can translate from, partly because I can't remember anything about the Colonel that could reasonably be described as having any similarity to anything 'cricketing'
