Edit by Claire: I've told Geary he needs to improve the quality of his selection. Maybe spending all that time on the poem addled his brain.

Write a poem. Harborne CC, the site of many a plight,
Promotion, relegation and the odd good fight.
The outfield is green and the square is flat,
You dont want to be a bowler, just have a good bat!

Saturday comes, the birds are a singing,
Mups corner is full and the boys are minging.
The warm-ups a shambles, the fielding is taxing,
Beany is moaning and Lloydy is waxing!

The toss is lost and we are batting,
Time to don the pads, while the lads are chatting.
The first ball comes down as a blur, the second's no clearer,
I wish I hadn't agreed to that last beer with Alan Shearer.

The inevitable happens, I'm out for a duck,
A hundred is missed, I'm all out of luck.
For the rest of the innnings my fate is sealed,
It's up to me to talk rubbish on and off the field.

The bowlers run in all hot and firey,
While I stand in the slips and arrange my social diary.
They rip through the opposition, uprooting the stumps,
Thank goodness for Trevor who rolled in those humps.

The game is wrapped up, Harborne are the winners,
It's that time of the day when Rob & Howel plan to be sinners.
We head to the showers, everyone is shattered,
Let's get to the bar and get battered.
