Arnie Hangs Up The Armband

Arnie Hangs Up The Armband

Lewis Baines1 Feb - 20:30

“One of the most successful captains the Club has ever had”

As announced at Thursday night’s AGM, first team captain Tom Arnold will be stepping down and moving into the role of club captain.

Under Tom’s leadership, the Club won the Birmingham League T20 knockout in consecutive years and gained promotion to Divsion One of the Birmingham League, becoming the only Harborne captain in our history to secure survival.

He said: “It has been a huge honour to lead the team for over 5 years and I’m immensely proud at what we’ve been able to achieve. Our ambition was always to secure promotion to Division One of the Birmingham League so to have done so, and for the first time in the club’s proud history, successfully retain our place there last season, is something I’ll always cherish. Above all, my proudest achievement has to be the way in which the team and players have always carried the badge with the utmost commitment, passion and heart. They are an absolute credit to the club and it truly has been a privilege to have been able to lead them for as long as I have."

“A huge thank you to the wider club for all the support over the years, Harborne truly is a special club and nothing shows that more in the way you rally around each and all the captains in every team. While I’m hanging up the captain’s armband, my commitment to the club remains as strong as ever, and I look forward to continuing to support the team in whatever way possible, in what will be a hugely exciting future for the club as we continue to go from strength to strength.”

Thank you, Arnie!
